Dawn Westlake

This is Dawn’s sixth short under her Ron de Caña Prods., Inc. banner. Since 2000, she’s made short films in the U.S. and Portugal which have won 38 international awards, played in hundreds of venues around the world, and which have been translated into Polish, Turkish, Japanese, Chinese, Farsi, Spanish, Italian & French. Three of the six films form an anti-war trilogy: THE PAWN, a drama, A LIFE OF DEATH, a short doc, and THOROUGHLY MODERN MILI, a comedy. Dawn received the Mark of Excellence from the Society of Professional Journalists for a televised interview in Chicago with Jimmy Carter on human rights violations in 1987 and was named a Platinum Filmmaker by Canon, USA in Dec. 2002 for her short MINI DRIVER PROJECT, made in Portugal in 2000. She won a JVC Award for personal expression from JVC-Tokyo in 2005. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband of 19 years, Bruce Rheins, CBS-LA deputy bureau chief and a producer for “The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric ”. DAWN graduated first in her class with a B.S. with honors in Radio-TV-Film from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL where she also studied three years of Italian. www.dawnwestlake.com

Davide Del Degan
“Massimo Belcuore”

Davide was born, raised and continues to reside in Trieste, Italy. He is an accomplished actor/director who was nominated in 2004 for the Donatello Award (the Italian “Oscar”) and who won the Globo d’Oro (Italian Golden Globe) for his short film, INTERNO 9. His first film, A CORTO D’AMORE (2001) debuted at the prestigious Sacher Film Fest put on by Nanni Moretti. His 2007 short film, IL PRIGIONIERO, debuted at the 2008 Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival in France.

Thomas and Joel Moser have been making films since they were kids in the small town of Moultrie, GA. This is their fifth project with Ron de Caña Prods.,Inc. They first collaborated with Dawn Westlake as animation directors on her film DOTTIE: THE LITTLE GIRL WITH THE BIG VOICE (2002). They were also the editors/graphic designers on her anti-war comedy, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILI, and editors/animators on her short doc, A LIFE OF DEATH. They directed, shot and edited her fifth film, THE PAWN, for which they’ve won Directors’ Awards and a cinematography prize. They’ve been named “Filmmakers to Watch” by ifilm.com for their award-winning, live-action short, THE FOUNTAIN, and they won awards in three categories for their 48-hour Film Project, THE PITCH, including ‘Best Directors’ and ‘Best Film’. They were animators on the second season of VH-1’s “Ill-ustrated”, and on the feature film FIRE DOG (2006). Gregory Johnson
Original Music

Gregory moved to L.A. from his native Philadelphia three years ago after winning a screenplay award for his feature script “Shredding Steel” in 2001. Greg is one of a new breed of finger-style guitar players that have been redefining the acoustic guitar--how it's played and the sounds it can make. Greg is now laying the groundwork for a career in both film composition and writing. Currently, he is splitting his time between Los Angeles and Sydney, Australia where is he writing several feature projects with FX directors for Warner Bros. He won the award for Best Score on Dawn Westlake’s A LIFE OF DEATH at the Inventaunfilm Festival, Lenola, Italy in May 2006. www.gregoryjohnson.org
